Meia-luz, half-light in Portuguese, expresses my personal understanding of photography. In many traditions luz - light - serves a symbol of hope, of purity, of truth per se. Photography, with its potential to capture and “freeze” light in a certain time and space, can therefore easily be misinterpreted as reality itself. However, at best, photography can give a hint of the mystery and underlaid reality of things.
